Victor Witten, M.D., Ph.D., FACP, FACG

Dr. Victor Witten is a Diplomate of the American Board of Gastroenterology, as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree and Ph.D. from Vilnius University, Lithuania. He was trained in endoscopy at the Central Institute for Postgraduate Medicine in Moscow, Russia. Upon arriving to the United States Dr. Witten completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at the Georgetown University-VA Medical Center. He was trained in the fellowship of gastroenterology at the WHC and further advanced his skills in therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography as a fellow at the UMDNJ and in Paris, France.
He authored numerous publications. Some of them were accepted for presentation at the World Congress of Gastroenterology and several International Conferences. Dr. V. Witten was awarded with Invention Certificate in Medicine for development and performance of the first in the World Pharmacological Vagotomy Through Endoscope.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF).
Dr. V. Witten was appointed as Member of International Relations Committee of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and elected as the President of Maryland Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. V. Witten served as an attending gastroenterologist at the Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
His areas of interest include: irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diseases of the liver, non-surgical treatment of the hemorrhoids, colonoscopy with removal of polyps and wireless capsule enteroscopy to mention a few.
In a 2011 survey published in the Washington Post Magazine, Dr. Witten was recognized by his peers as a "Super Doctor" in Gastroenterology.
